Over the course of the last week, the Denver Nuggets have shown what made them potential title contenders coming into the 2022-23 NBA season.

They dominated the Oklahoma City Thunder in a double-digit road win a week ago, before shutting down a disciplined Spurs team in back-to-back games and then edging out another road victory against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

The Nuggets have won six of their last seven games and now find themselves tied for third place in the Western Conference with a record of 8-3. Despite falling early to the Jazz and Trail Blazers, two of the more surprising teams through the early part of 2022, Denver is finally beginning to hit its stride and carries one of the more well-rounded rotations in basketball.

Unfortunately, the latest Nuggets odds aren’t quite as optimistic about the team heading into their highly anticipated cross-conference matchup against the Boston Celtics on Friday night.

Can Denver slow down the lethal scoring duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown? Will we see more clutch performances from some of the Nuggets’ young stars? One thing is for sure, either team has the potential to blow this game wide open in what could be a high-scoring affair.

Denver Nuggets vs. Boston Celtics Odds, Spread, Over/Under

The latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook have Boston as -4.5 favorites against the spread, with the squad -110 (bet $110 to win $100) to cover. The Celtics are -188 on the moneyline, while the Nuggets check in at +158. The over-under for this game is currently set at 231.0, with the over and under both at -110.

Nuggets Projected Starting Lineup Tonight

G – Jamal Murray – No. 27
G – Caldwell-Pope – No. 5
F – Michael Porter Jr. – No. 1
F – Aaron Gordon – No. 50
C – Nikola Jokic – No. 15

With everybody healthy, we should expect to see the usual starters out there tonight.

Nuggets Injury Report

Ish Smith has yet to play a game in the month of November, and it looks like he has once again been ruled out of this one with a calf injury. Zeke Nnaji will make his return to action after missing the previous three games with a right ankle sprain.

Denver Nuggets vs. Boston Celtics Prediction

In what could end up being an early preview of this year’s NBA Finals, tonight’s contest between the Nuggets and Celtics could truly go either way. As both teams are on a four-game win streak and come into the matchup with a record of 8-3.

For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic has seen a slight dip in usage as well as his overall statistical output with Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. finally healthy and back in the lineup. Murray is just starting to get his legs back under him and MPJ has been shooting lights out from beyond the arc at 48.6%. Bones Hyland is also seeing more usage, despite playing just over 27 minutes a night.

As a team, Denver carries the sixth-best Offensive Rating in the league at 113.8 and they’re shooting a league-high 50.1% from the field. Boston, on the other hand, features one of the more potent offenses in the league, scoring the second-most points per game (118.) and carrying the best Offensive Rating in the entire NBA.

With how many weapons both of these offenses have, the pressure is going to be on these defenses to slow down each team’s respective star players. And since the Celtics led the league in Defensive Rating a season ago and ranked 24th in Pace, it’s safe to say we can expect to see a straight-up slugfest tonight.

There’s no denying the level of talent oozing out of both of these lineups, but I would expect a fairly low-scoring game with these being two of the better defenses in the association.

Nuggets 115, Celtics 111
