Best NBA prop bets today for Nuggets vs. Cavaliers (How to bet Jamal Murray)
By Peter Dewey
The Denver Nuggets have a tough road matchup in their first game back from the All-Star break, taking on Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland.
Denver won’t have Aaron Gordon in this game due to a rib injury, but that creates some value for bettors in the prop market, specifically on Michael Porter Jr.
This is the league’s No. 1 offense (Denver) taking on the No. 1 defense (Cleveland). Here’s how we should attack the prop market for this game:
Nuggets vs. Cavaliers best NBA prop bets today
- Michael Porter Jr. OVER 16.5 Points
- Isaac Okoro UNDER 7.5 Points
- Jamal Murray OVER 3.5 Rebounds
Michael Porter Jr. OVER 16.5 Points
When Aaron Gordon sits, it opens up more shots for Michael Porter Jr., who is averaging 18.3 points per game over his last 15 contests.
Over that stretch, MPJ has put up 17 or more points in 10 of 15 games, and he’s taken at least 14 shots in seven straight contests.
Cleveland has a great defense, but MPJ has been efficient this season (47.6 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from 3). I think he will hit the OVER on this prop based on his recent usage.
Isaac Okoro UNDER 7.5 Points
If you’re looking for a Cavs player to fade, look no further than Okoro, who has cleared 7.5 points just four times in his last 12 games.
The former first-round pick is averaging just 6.3 points per game on the season, and he’s attempted double-digit shots in a game just twice all season long.
The usage for Okoro is going to fluctuate, but he entered the break with five straight games falling short of this number, taking just six shots per game.
Jamal Murray OVER 3.5 Rebounds
When you think of betting on Jamal Murray, you may not immediately think of rebounds.
In fact, that may be the last place you’d think to wager on.
However, the Denver Nuggets point guard had cleared 3.5 boards in eight of his last 10 games before sitting out due to his surgically repaired knee.
Murray is expected to return tonight, and he’s in a good spot to hit his season average of 4.2 boards once again tonight. Over his last 10 games, Murray has increased that number to 4.6. I like the OVER for him tonight.
