Wow. Just wow.

Another night, another comical stat line for the NBA’s best player, Nikola Jokic. He extended one of the most outrageous streaks in league history on Thursday night, recording his fifth straight triple-double before the fourth quarter (no other player has done it more than twice in a row).

This time he actually had to play in the 4th quarter as he came back in to help the Nuggets stave off a late Kings comeback for a 132-123 victory. On the night, the Joker finished with a preposterous 35 points, 22 rebounds, 17 assists, 2 blocks, and one steal.

And yet, all of that was overshadowed by his magical play to end the third quarter. With just over a second left in the period, Joker caught the inbounds pass around his own free throw line with his back to the basket. He turned and heaved the ball ~80 feet with one hand like a baseball, and sunk the shot as the buzzer sounded.

Jokic with no reaction to insane full-court buzzer-beater

And as if that in itself wasn’t enough, his reaction made it all even better and will make the moment go down in history. And by reaction, I mean no reaction at all. After making one of the craziest H-O-R-S-E shots in NBA history, Jokic didn’t emote in the slightest, he didn’t even crack a smile.

He watched the ball go through the net, and casually turned and walked back to his bench without even flinching. His teammates ran to high-five him and try to get fired up, but Jokic acted like he was completely unphased by his brilliance.

The shot gave the Nuggets a 110-85 lead through three quarters and felt like the dagger of all daggers. The Kings battled back valiantly and actually cut the game to single digits before the Nuggets slammed the door.

After the game, Jokic was asked on the court about his incredible shot and simply deadpanned, “I knew it was going in”. It seems like he’s joking, and he is, of course. But at the same time, he makes the impossible seem ordinary on a routine basis.

Sure, this was a little outside the realm of a typical night, even by Jokic’s lofty standards. But this is who he is; a basketball machine, programmed to dominate the NBA in every way. This was just the latest example, and it’s one of the coldest highlights in NBA history.

Enjoy this highlight, it will surely be replayed for eternity. The reaction will make this already viral moment even more legendary and will probably make the short version of his career highlight reel. It was an all-time play for an all-time player and just our latest reminder that we are lucky to watch this man play basketball on a nightly basis.
