Denver Nuggets fans had plenty of reason to give Anthony Edwards an earful before, but his latest comments just add fuel to the fire, and fans need to give it to him every time he touches the ball inside Ball Arena during this series.

Of course, keep it to the loud "boos," but make it loud inside Ball Arena for our rival. Yes. "Our rival." Okay, maybe not the fans, too, but Edwards definitely said he has a rivalry with Denver. But it's all one big family inside Ball Arena, and fans go hard for the Nuggets against their rivals.

"I don't think there's anything else to call it but a rivalry. I think there's a lot of rivalries in the league now. For sure. And I think me and Denver is one of them," Edwards said.

Add that to the list of reasons to boo. Of course, it's all in jest, and screaming our heads off at games has always been fun. But any extra reason is a good one for home-team support. Especially against someone as talented as Edwards and the Timberwolves. And, of course, your rival.

The Nuggets are out to avenge their 2024 playoff defeat

At the top of the list is the stinging 2024 playoff defeat. The Nuggets lost game seven at home and the series to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Edwards had games of 43 and 44 points in the series. He's averaging 30.3 points in three games this season and 31.5 points in four games last season against the Nuggets. He's a perimeter scoring threat, shooting 39.9% from three, and the Nuggets struggle on perimeter defense at times.

Edwards and the Timberwolves also have a 17-15 record against the Nuggets over the last five years. Plus, the Timberwolves play the Nuggets physically, and the games can get a little chippy. They're a tough rival, and they deserve the playful loud chaos that playoff basketball can deliver.

The rivalry has been brewing for nearly two years

It was nearly two years ago that the Nuggets were defeated in game seven of the second round of the playoffs. Nikola Jokic, when asked after the game whether or not the Timberwolves were a rival now, said, "Yes."

It was a physical series, and Christian Braun even said after game seven that he "didn't like" the Timberwolves. But that's what makes a rivalry a rivalry, and Ant-Man apparently hasn't forgotten.

But the Nuggets turned a corner against the Wolves this year, going 3-1. And Nikola Jokic averaged 38.3 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 11.3 assists in those four games. Jokic is figuring out the team that was built to try to stop him.

So get loud against your rival, Nuggets fans. And let's give the Nuggets a boost in every way possible as they march onward in the playoffs.
