Ever since the new front office tandem of Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace took over in June, the Nuggets have done just about everything that fans have been asking for. The team continued that trend this week, announcing that their popular throwback black skyline edition jerseys will make a return this season.

NBA teams have been announcing their city edition jerseys for the upcoming season, and the Nuggets’ official Twitter account confirmed the rumors that had been going around social media, tweeting out a picture of the black skyline jersey with the caption “IT’S BACK”.

The jerseys were last worn by the Nuggets during the 2019-20 season that ended in the Bubble. The dark jerseys show an outline of the Denver skyline set over the Rocky Mountains, with a rainbow stripe across the whole backdrop.

It’s a beautiful jersey, and it will provide some nostalgia and fond memories for Nuggets fans of the incredible playoff run in the Bubble that featured two 3-1 series comebacks against the Jazz and Clippers.

Easy for Nuggets to appease fans

This is a small gesture, but something that obviously has the fans excited. It pales in comparison to the importance of the roster moves, but in a weird way, it’s all tied together. The last couple of years since the title haven’t been so great, and last season got particularly ugly, culminating in the firings of GM Calvin Booth and head coach Michael Malone.

But now, it feels like a dark cloud has been lifted from over the organization, and the vibes are high again. Wallace and Tenzer seem to be in lockstep and have hit one home run after another this offseason, bringing in Cam Johnson, Tim Hardaway Jr., Jonas Valanciunas, and Bruce Brown via trades and free agency.

They’ve also made some splash hires off the court, bringing in highly sought-after Jared Dudley as an assistant coach and former champion JJ Barea as well. Now they’re catering to fans by bringing back one of the favorite recent alternate jersey models.

Everything is going right in Denver, and it feels good. Suddenly, the coaching staff and front office are engaged and working cohesively, the bench is deep and versatile, the team is going to be very good, they’re going to win a lot of games, and now we know, they’re also going to look damn good while doing it.
