The Denver Nuggets will be looking to upgrade their roster this offseason. As they do, there is one name that could be in play to be added to this roster, and it's one that probably a lot of Nuggets fans are thinking of: Bruce Brown.
It was less than two years ago Bruce Brown was a crucial part of Denver's run to a championship. In 2022-23, he quickly became one of the most beloved role players in Nuggets history with his tough shot-making, playmaking ability and performance in the clutch that helped lead Denver to the first NBA title in their history.
It was truly a tragedy when he left the Nuggets in free agency in July 2023, signing a two-year deal with the Indiana Pacers. His departure was highly disappointing not only because of his high level of play on the hardwood, but also for the great vibes he brought to this team from an overall standpoint.
It's safe to say that life hasn't exactly been the same for Brown ever since he left Denver nearly two years ago. His scoring average has gone down from 11.5, to 10.8, to 8.3 in the two seasons following his championship with the Nuggets.
Bruce Brown will be an unrestricted free agent this summer
With that in mind, Brown is about to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. With his value being quite a bit lower than it was two seasons ago or even one season ago, the possibility of him making his way back to Denver is there.
It's obvious that financial implications have restricted the Denver Nuggets, and this current iteration of the team is not nearly as deep as it was a couple of seasons ago when they took home the Larry O'Brien. What's one solution to that problem? Getting impact players on team-friendly deals.
It just makes sense. Denver can offer Brown a defined role in a situation that he's already familiar with. He would have the opportunity to prove the kind of impact he can make on a contending team once again.
You don't typically see these kinds of moves made with players who left town after a championship, but this could be the rare case where it actually makes sense for it to happen. Denver Nuggets fans would eat it up, and it would be a great on-court fit on top of the emotional boost.
