As the NBA preseason heats up and we are now just two weeks away from opening night, things are happening around the league and around the Denver Nuggets. Final roster cuts are fast approaching which means teams are whittling down their rosters to 15 players and filling out G-League squads.

The Nuggets, of course, are no exception. We’ve dealt with some interesting rumors and broken down how the team has looked in their two preseason games, but here are some bits of recent news surrounding the team.

Nuggets waive Young, Williams, and McGlothan

With final cuts on the horizon, the Nuggets trimmed their roster down to 15 players by waiving their three training camp invites, Jaylin Williams, Jahmir Young, and Gabe McGlothan. This certainly doesn’t come as a surprise and was the most likely outcome all along. None of the players popped in training camp enough to warrant a major shakeup.

According to Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports, all three players are likely to be signed to the Nuggets’ G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold.

Nuggets sign Richardson, Funk, and Bediako

On a somewhat related note, the Nuggets are starting to fill out the Gold’s roster for the upcoming G League season. They officially added Will Richardson, Andrew Funk, and Charles Bediako on Tuesday. While unlikely, if any of these players emerge, they could be converted to a standard contract and added to the Nuggets’ roster at some point.

Jokic asks Adam Silver for game in Serbia

With all the buzz surrounding the NBA’s Global Games and the league’s recent trip to Abu Dhabi to start the preseason, commissioner Adam Silver revealed that Nikola Jokic has requested the league play a game in his home country of Serbia.

Silver announced that Luka Doncic had made the same request for his own home country of Slovenia. While Silver didn’t completely shoot down the idea, he explained that it’s difficult financially to play one-off games in foreign countries. He talked about the long-term initiatives that have taken place in countries like Mexico, France, and the United Arab Emirates.

Despite the pleas from two of the league’s preeminent superstars, it doesn’t seem like an NBA game in the Balkans is on the horizon any time in the near future.
