Looking at the Denver Nuggets’ odds to repeat as NBA champions.
On the college court, the UConn Huskies made history as the first team to win back-to-back national championships in nearly two decades. That feat is not as uncommon in the NBA, where there have been five back-to-back champions this century, starting with the Los Angeles Lakers’ three-peat from 2001-2003.
The next team with a chance to do it is the Denver Nuggets, which stormed through the Miami Heat last season in convincing fashion (4-1) to win the NBA Finals. The Nuggets are in prime position to repeat after a strong regular season.
Denver was in a three-way race for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, but ultimately settled for the No. 2 slot after the Oklahoma City Thunder won the tiebreaker at 57-25. That hasn’t impacted Denver’s odds to go back-to-back as oddsmakers are still projecting the Nuggets to get to the NBA Finals out of the Western Conference.

Nuggets NBA Championship Odds (Denver is second favorite to win it all)
The Boston Celtics, which boasts the NBA’s best record, are the odds-on favorite to win the title at +165, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. FanDuel also lists the Nuggets as the second favorite to win the NBA Finals at +300, which carries an implied probability of 25% that Denver will run the table for the second consecutive year.
Boston to beat Denver (+520) and Denver to beat Boston (+610) are the two betting favorites in the NBA Finals exact result oddsboard. Denver swept the two-game regular-season series against the Celtics.
Oddsmakers predicting strong fight in Western Conference
Over in the east, Boston is an overwhelming favorite to reach the NBA Finals at -190. The next closest team to win the east is Milwaukee at +700.
It’s a different story in the west. There was a season-long fight for the top spot in the conference and oddsmakers are projecting another tight race to get out of the west.
Denver is the favorite to reach the NBA Finals (+135), though a slew of teams are within striking distance with the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder both within striking distance at +600. The Dallas Mavericks are next at +800, then the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves at +850.
