The Denver Nuggets have had a relatively successful off season with the addition of star Paul Millsap, but it also has opened up a new issue.

The Nuggets have way too many power forwards on the roster right now. I am not exaggerating this statement. If you look at the roster, you will see as of right now there is a glaring hole at the center and small forward positions.

You will also see an abundance of power forwards. As of right now, there is currently the likes of Paul Millsap, Kenneth Faried, Trey Lyles, Darrell Arthur and Tyler Lydon. This crowded position must be remedied. Denver still needs a back up center to Nikola Jokic and it is looking like they will try to bring back Mason Plumlee for the job, but they also need another small forward for added insurance.

The Nuggets must unload some of these power forwards if they want to accomplish these tasks. This poses another question. Which power forwards are expendable? Well, it is the hard truth, but I personally believe trade-able pieces are Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur, and yes I am going to say newly drafted Tyler Lydon. I know this sounds odd to already be trading a player who has not even played a single regular season game.

However, after his disappointing Summer League performance, Denver could possibly get something of value in return in a package deal which would include Lydon. Either way you slice it, Denver needs to find a way to solve this power forward conundrum and possibly remedy the small forward and back up center holes at the same time.

Not to mention, this ammunition could potentially assist the Nuggets in bringing in more defensive firepower.

It will be interesting to see what the Nuggets’ front office does with this situation going forward.
