After being selected by the Denver Nuggets in the NBA draft, Hernangomez elected to play for Denver in the Las Vegas summer league, despite an opportunity to play with the Spanish national team at the upcoming Olympics. Hernangomez showed motivation and commitment to playing in the NBA this year, telling teams in pre draft interviews that his intention was to play in the NBA this season.

In the five summer league games for the Nuggets, Hernangomez has performed well and impressed the Nuggets Coaching staff. He has averaged roughly 10 points a game along with 8 rebounds while shooting a staggering 54.5% from the field. Hernangomez has been very efficient when on the floor for the Nuggets in the summer league.
Along with his high field goal percentage, his competitiveness and tenacity around the rim has been prevalent. He always seems to be around and ready when the ball comes off the rim, a great trait for a power forward. His ability on both the offensive and defensive glass has proved to be a valuable asset for Denver in the summer league thus far.
A high motor on the floor is something that cant be taught, luckily enough for Denver Hernangomez seems to have that motor.
Due to his high level of play in the summer league, it is unlikely that Hernangomez will be stashed overseas for the upcoming season.

The role Hernangomez will play on the Nuggets will likely be small, but the future is bright for Juancho “Juan” Hernangomez. All Nuggets fans alike should be excited for the future of this incredible young man.
