It’s odd to think that in Melo’s, Billup’s, and A.I.’s tenure with Denver, not once did the Nuggets wear the rainbow skyline jerseys.

The Denver Nuggets have one of the most iconic jerseys in all of sports history. If you ask any avid NBA fan about the rainbow skyline jerseys, they’ll tell you there a classic.

Thankfully, Nuggets Nation is going to be blessed with seeing the Nuggets rock them in their home opener when they retire the great Mutumbo’s number 55. This is awesome considering we just had a recent article on how Denver should pull out these throwback jerseys for a game or two this year. However; the real tragedy is not thinking of this when the Nuggets had 3 future hall of famers.

More from Nugg Love

When Allen Iverson joined Melo, the Nuggets had a demeanor never seen before. Imagine how sweet it would have been to see these electric scorers representing the rainbow skyline while dropping 20 or 30 points.

Or how about the fact we never saw our hometown hero wear this jersey on a couple special occasions? Mr. Big Shot, Chauncey Billups, I bet would have loved to worn these a couple of times.

I’m sure the Colorado native who grew up idolizing John Elway, wanted to retire a Nugget, and is a die-hard Broncos fan would have appreciated wearing these classics.

Seeing the Nuggets in these jerseys in their 2009 playoff run would have made it more ecstatic than it already was. Just imagine watching Anthony hitting the game winning 3 point shot against Dallas in a throwback jersey.  Billups and the Nuggets have a soft spot for each other.

So it’s safe to bet that he will be excited to see the rainbow skyline in the home opener.

It’s great to see the rainbow skyline returning to Pepsi Center this year. Unfortunately, it would been great to see the 3 future hall of famers wear them a couple times during their Denver tenure.
