The Denver Nuggets reside in the most competitive division in the NBA to date.

The Northwest division doesn’t have a true championship contender so I won’t call them the best division. The Northwest may be the toughest division. It’s probably the deepest division. And it is certainly the most interesting division.

More from Nugg Love

Just a couple months ago Utah won the Northwest division. Next year it is realistic that Utah could take last place in the division.

Losing Gordon Hayward will hurt them, but won’t make them that much worse. The primary reason is due to the increase of talent across the rest of the division.

This off season the Northwest division has already added Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague, Jamal Crawford, and honestly the list goes on.

All five teams in the Northwest will be playoff contenders. It is possible all five teams will even be playoff teams! Accurately ranking these teams at this time is nearly impossible.

For example, there is a good argument Denver will finish sixth in the Western Conference. To the same token, it is easy seeing them surpassing expectations and getting as high as the fourth spot. However, we all know Portland, Minnesota, Oklahoma City and Utah are not going to make it easy for the Nuggets. Even with the loss of Gordon Hayward, the Jazz could still find a way to sneak in at the seventh or eighth seed.

One thing is certain though- every night in the Northwest will be a battle. Every win and loss will matter. Rivalries will rise. And each team has a very important off season over the next couple of months.

The Denver Nuggets will be in the thick of it this coming year and expect big things from the two stars in Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap.

One thing is set in stone to be sure, Denver’s division will be extremely fun to watch next year.
