The Denver Nuggets announced today that they will be playing in five preseason games to help them gear up for the 2017 season.

The Nuggets will open the preseason against the defending champion Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena on September 30th. The Nuggets will then play the Los Angeles Lakers in there next two games. The first of those games will be on October 2nd in Los Angeles and the second game will be on October 4th and that one will be held in Ontario, Canada. Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is from Kitchener, Ontario so it’ll be a homecoming game or sorts for him.

The Nuggets will then face off against the Spurs on October 8th in San Antonio and will then close out the preseason against the Thunder on October 10th at the Pepsi Center. The Nuggets have a pretty road heavy preseason and Nuggets fans will only have one chance to see the team in person before the regular season starts. Having a road heavy preseason could be beneficial though because it’ll help prepare the team for when they have road trips during the regular season.

Three of the Nuggets five preseason games will air on Altitude which will also help us get a look at the team before the season. Both the Lakers games and the one home game against the Thunder will be televised. The other two games can be heard on Altitude Radio AM 950 and followed along with on nuggets.com.

Preseason is always an exciting time because it means that the season is just right around the corner. It’ll give us a first look at how Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap play together, and will help us get a glimpse of the Nuggets point guard battle. Look for the starters to play sparingly in the preseason and for a lot of the young guys to get a chance to show what they got. Guys like Malik Beasley, Tyler Lydon, Trey Lyles, Monte Morris, and Torrey Craig are sure to get a good look in those five games.

The schedule also has the Nuggets playing some exciting teams with one Western Conference finalist in the Spurs, a playoff team in the Thunder, and of course the NBA champion Warriors. Playing high level opponents when the games don’t really count can only improve the team because they’ll get a taste of what it’s playing like in high level environments. Playing the Lakers twice will also bring a lot of hype around those games because of young Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball. I see the Nuggets getting a lot of national attention in those two games for sure.

Next: Jokic could be a future MVP

Nuggets preseason just gives us another thing to look forward to in what hopes to be an exciting season for the team. It’s time to get excited the season is just right around the corner Nuggets fans!
