The Nuggets are headed for a classic trap game.

The Denver Nuggets have been one of the worst road teams in the league this season. Despite a 10-2 home record and being fourth in the Western Conference currently, they are only 3-7 on the road so far.

They must be cautious going up against the Dallas Mavericks. Denver has a habit of overlooking teams they are supposed to defeat. They have already lost to teams like the Lakers and Knicks this year, both of which were on the road.

The Mavericks are in dead last in the Western Conference this year and have a poor home record of 4-10. Dallas currently has nothing to lose and this could be deadly to Denver. Not to mention, the Nuggets are missing their two stars in Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic.

Denver has done a solid job of holding down the fort so far without Jokic, but winning on the road is a different animal in of itself. As a result, the Mavericks will be able to utilize Dirk Nowitski and free him up for a lot more opportunities without Millsap to slow him down. Furthermore, guys like Mason Plumlee, Kenneth Faried and Trey Lyles will be asked to step up once again and help lock down the paint.

They did a solid job in the last game, but they were not going up against a future hall of famer in Dirk Nowitski. Do not be surprised if we see a little bit of Darrell Arthur in this match up. The Nuggets must start shoring up their road woes and this game is a golden opportunity for them.

On top of this, history has shown Denver has a tendency of blowing these terrific chances. If they overlook Dallas, the Nuggets will be in for a rude awakening.
