Paul Millsap should be matched up with Dirk Nowitzki in a very intriguing battle.

Contrary to what one may think, Paul Millsap and Dirk Nowitzki share more similarities than one would think. Both players play at the four spot, but can actually stretch the defense with their pretty jump shots. Not to mention, both of the players have impressive NBA resumes (although, Dirk’s is a bit more decorated than Paul’s.)

They will be guarding each other as the Nuggets come to Dallas for their third straight away game. If Millsap wants to will his team to a third straight road victory, he must come up big against the future hall of famer. Nowitzki may not be in his prime anymore, but he is a future hall of famer for a reason.

On the other side, Nowitzki cannot overlook Millsap. Just because he just got re-introduced back into the starting rotation does not mean he cannot be productive. A lesson the Cleveland Cavaliers learned the hard way the other night.

He provides great defensive IQ and defensive intensity. Not to mention, his offensive game is remarkably polished for a big man and he can keep up with the best in the league. He can drive, hits the mid range shot, is an above average free throw shooter and can actually burn the defense with the long ball when given the chance. He also happens to be an underrated passer and will eventually flow nicely within the Nuggets’ offense once he gets more settled.

Nowitzki will provide a brilliant challenge as Dirk has one of the highest basketball IQ’s in the entire Association and this match up very well could be the crucial one which decides who wins and who loses.
