DENVER, CO - FEBRUARY 25: Nikola Jokic

Paul Millsap has returned for the Denver Nuggets after a long rest due to injury. That should be good for Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, right?

Well, it may not be as great as it seems, as Jokic seems to be struggling with his role as of late with the exception to the Cleveland loss. Paul Millsap is a great player, but he isn’t supposed to be the leader and best player. With the side role that Jokic has tried to take lately, it begs the question: Is Nikola Jokic too humble?

More from Nugg Love

Ask any Denver Nuggets fan and a large portion will tell you that Jokic is the best player. He’s a great passer, has great footwork under the basket, and can work the glass. He’s literally the type of center that any NBA team wants these days.

Does Jokic not know how good he really is, or is he not willing to admit it? This team should be under his leadership, and run through him, rather than him be the side role. It’s good to be a facilitator at times like Draymond Green, but sometimes you have to take over like Anthony Davis.

That is the key aspect that we have missed from the Joker, and he will have to improve on that to win and get to the playoffs for the first time since 2013. I mean, look at this Western Conference and how close it is. Everyone is around a game back from each other from the third to the ninth seed.

Do I believe that Paul Millsap has a part in this? Well, yes and no. I think that Jokic may think that Millsap needs to run the team and that he needs to be his sidekick. That is by no means Millsap’s fault, but it’s something Jokic needs to get over.
