Say what you will about his hefty contract, the Nuggets’ defense is going to miss the defensive anchor at the four spot.
This season, Paul was averaging a defensive rating of 102 coupled with a block average of 1.1 per game. Not to mention, the four time All Star is coming off winning Western Conference Player of the Week where he averaged numbers around 20 points per game and close to an outstanding four steals per game.
He is the perfect complimentary piece to fit with Nikola Jokic in the low post and the Nuggets have been thriving under his veteran leadership for the past couple of weeks.
For those who do not know, Millsap’s role is the be the veteran mentor who can still put up solid numbers and take control of the team down the stretch of a close ball game if he needs to, look at the Chicago game where he the game winning tip in to give Denver a one point win on the road.
We saw how his absence affected the team last season, let’s hope he can come back sooner this time around.
