At this point, trying to put a limit on the greatness of Nikola Jokic is a fool’s errand. He’s gotten better at every turn, going from an unknown second-round pick out of Serbia to the best player in the NBA.
Along the way, he’s won three league MVP awards and led the Nuggets to the first championship in franchise history. Somehow, he has managed to keep improving every element of his game ever since coming into the league.
Every time you think he’s peaked as a player, he finds a way to reach another level. This year it has culminated in Jokic putting up a near 30-point triple-double per night while having one of the highest three-point shooting percentages in the entire league.

It’s at the point now where we just expect Jokic to put up a new record-setting, historical stat line every time he takes the court. Most nights, the game recap starts with something like “Nikola Jokic is the first player since…” with a different legendary player and cartoonish box score to follow.
Jokic currently has longest 3-point shot distance in NBA history
Well, now another stat has popped up that has Joker on pace to set another league record. Thanks to Jokic’s 16 heave attempts this season, he is currently averaging the longest three-point shot attempt distance in NBA history.
It’s an astonishing stat, especially for a center, but Jokic’s average three-point shot this season is coming from 29.00 feet away from the basket. That would top the all-time mark of 28.45 feet, set by Andre Miller back in 2003.

The only other player in the top 10 on the list who isn’t a guard is Alperen Sengun, who set a mark of 27.83 feet back in 2022. But Sengun did it on just 117 three-point attempts that season, while Jokic is already at 204, with a third of the season still to go.
It’s even more remarkable to think that while on pace to set this record, Jokic is doing so while also ranking 5th in the league in three-point shooting percentage, hitting at a rate higher than 45% on the year.
We’ll see if this continues, but considering Jokic’s willingness and desire to launch up half and full-court shots at the end of quarters, it seems likely that he will set this record. Hopefully, the percentage doesn’t drop off, but at this point, we have a large enough sample size to say that none of this is a fluke; it’s just another ridiculous feat accomplished by Nikola Jokic.
