On Wednesday night in a 135-120 win over the Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray added yet another incredible performance on this young season, recording a jaw-dropping 52 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. While a 50-piece is always impressive, it was the efficiency with which Murray did so that etched his name alongside two NBA legends for masterful road performances:
In NBA history, only three players have had multiple road games in their career with 50+ points on 75% or better shooting:

That’s right. Jamal Murray’s legendary performance, where he shot 19/25 from the field and 10/11 from beyond the arc, now has him tied with Michael Jordan in career road games with 50+ points while shooting 75% or better. Outside of Jordan and Murray, Wilt Chamberlain is the only other player with multiple road games of that nature, as Wilt recorded 3 of them in his career.
Not only has Murray joined two of the greatest players in NBA history with that road game statistic, but he also now owns two of the six most efficient 50-point games in NBA history as well. On Wednesday night, he scored 52 points on 95.6 TS%. Back in 2021, he had 50 points on 100.0 TS%. What a feat!
With this game, the Nuggets have now had three separate 50-point scorers this season so far in Aaron Gordon, Nikola Jokic, and the Blue Arrow. Will this performance help Murray finally get the allstar buzz he deserves?
Jamal Murray is playing like an allstar this season… It’s time to reward him
Murray has historically been known as a player who is a bit in cruise control during the regular season until he kicks it into high gear for the playoffs. This has led to him being fairly inconsistent in the early months of the season before rounding into form later on after the allstar break. Justifiable, so this also means that he had never been an all-star… but that could change.
This year, the 6’4” PG from Kentucky is averaging career highs across the board. He has averaged 24.7 PPG, 6.6 APG, 4.7 RPG in 20 games thus far and has been much more reliable and playing at a superstar level, which Nuggets fans have to love. He is even doing so on career-high efficiency too, making 50.3% of his total shots, 45.2% of his threes, and 88.9% of his FTs.
It is beginning to look realistic that Murray could not just be an All-Star this year, but also flirt with an All-NBA selection and the 50/40/90 club if he can keep this up. Sadly, the league is also stacked with guards who are all-star caliber as well, but Murray would be a great addition to the USA vs USA vs World All-Star Game format that is being introduced this year.
If Murray ends up getting the All-Star nod, he would get to play alongside Nikola Jokic with Team World and would also put an end to the notorious “Jokic has never played with another All-Star” topic that is frequently brought up.
