The Denver Nuggets came into the day with the most open roster spots left in the entire league, as the offseason window is well into its second official week. But the mystery of who would occupy one of those roster spots was quietly answered by a simple transaction registered in the NBA transaction log. Trevon Brazile, the 35th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, has signed a "contract" with the Denver Nuggets. Welcome to Denver, Trevon!

It was a very quiet addition first reported by HoopsRumors, that didn't even spur a tweet from Shams. There are no details surrounding the transaction, but it's likely that it will be for a rookie minimum of $1.357 million for this first year, a team-friendly value for the salary cap-strapped Nuggets.

The Nuggets traded down from 26th to 35th and picked up not only Brazile, but also two future second-round picks. The move not only stocked the cupboard with draft picks the Nuggets desperately needed, but it also allowed them to save a little more than $2 million in cap space for the 2026-27 season.

Brazile could be exciting to watch this season

Brazile, at 6-foot-10 and with a 41.5" vertical leap, solves a bunch of the athleticism that was missing last year. Brazile can score downhill, and he can levitate, making rebounds look simple, grabbing 11 in the Nuggets' opening game of the Vegas Summer League, including a crucial 5 on offense.

While he didn't display it in the first game, Brazile can be an above-average rim protector, blocking 1.6 shots per game his senior year at Arkansas. His length and athleticism allow him to cover a lot of ground in the paint, and he's an excellent help-side defender. Brazile uses those same attributes on offense to catch lobs thrown from all over.

Brazile had a tough shooting game in his debut, only going 2-8 from the field for 5 points, but he had a nice three from the top of the arc, showing his range and ability to stretch the defense. In college, he was a career 35.1% from three, so there's definitely potential there.

The Nuggets should actually play Brazile

The Nuggets have a stubborn history of not trying out some of the youth on the roster, but Brazile would be a nice compliment to the Nuggets other announced addition of Marvin Bagley III on the second unit. Let him go in and cause chaos at the rim and get the crowd jazzed up with a help-side block to a lob dunk in transition. Sounds like fun!

The Nuggets need that element of fun back. The only athletic moves were made by Aaron Gordon or Peyton Watson last year, and they both missed large chunks of time. Get Brazile in the lineup, and start developing him for the future!
