After weeks and weeks of nothing, there are finally actual, tangible basketball-related activities and events on the horizon for the Denver Nuggets. Fans can rejoice; take a break from the discourse and rumors and just enjoy your favorite team. Here are some key dates to watch for in the next month.

September 26th: Media Day

All of the Nuggets will hold press conferences and answer questions for the media for the first time in many months. There should be plenty of interesting questions and the players, coaches, and executives should have plenty to say. There could be some seriously spicy soundbites.

September 27th: Aaron Gordon becomes contract extension eligible

This is the next big date for the Nuggets and their roster-building. The tough work is done as Jamal Murray was extended and now Gordon is the last big chip in the core of the roster. He’ll be eligible to sign for a max of 140% of his current deal for four extra years on top of the coming year.

This would be a nice piece of business for the Nuggets and would lock up their core four players for the next several years. But Gordon may choose to hit free agency and try to make more on the open market or the Nuggets could try to play hardball. This is a major story to watch over the coming weeks (and perhaps beyond).

September 27th: Training Camp Begins

The players will finally take the court and start practicing together formally and preparing for the season. There will be a lot to watch for with so many young players competing for spots on the roster and real minutes. It will also be fascinating to see how Jamal Murray looks after a rough, injury-riddled offseason and who steps up to replace Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the starting lineup.

October 4th: NBA preseason kicks off in Abu-Dhabi

The Nuggets will face the defending champs in a two-game miniseries to kick off the NBA’s preseason in Abu Dhabi. These games are a part of the NBA Global Games and it will be the first time for the franchise in the United Arab Emirates.

October 12th-13th: Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend

Former Nuggets’ Chauncey Billups and the late Walter Davis will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. This is obviously an amazing honor and it should be a great weekend and spectacle for all Nuggets fans.

October 21st: Final Rosters set

On the eve of the NBA’s regular season, teams must make final cuts and get the roster down to just 15 players and the three players on 2-way contracts. There likely won’t be any major surprises, but you never know. Those last few spots on the roster aren’t safe and if somebody has an impressive camp, they could definitely steal a spot.

October 24th: Nuggets regular-season opener

The Nuggets will tip off their regular season in a matchup of Western Conference favorites as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder in a nationally televised game. Buckle up, Nuggets fans; it’s all starting very soon.
