The Denver Nuggets made a quiet transaction over the weekend, but it is quiet no more. Details of Trevon Brazile's signing have finally emerged, and the Nuggets have locked up the 6-foot-10 high-flyer out of Arkansas for at least the next two years. And Brazile should have every opportunity to hit the ground running and win minutes in the Nuggets rotation as a rookie, thanks to the mountain of athleticism he possesses.

The news comes from Michael Scotto, who relays via tweet that the Nuggets and Brazile came to terms on a four-year, $9.3 million deal that comes with the first two years fully guaranteed.
Brazile came to the Nuggets with the 35th pick of the NBA Draft after the Nuggets traded down from 26th to 35th in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs that also netted two additional future second-round picks in what could turn out to be a no-brainer upgrade if Brazile pans out like the athletic profile says he could.
Brazile can do the little things that add up in the paint on the second unit
Brazile is very athletic, and he immediately fills the void that was missing for the Nuggets last season. He has a 41.5" vertical jump, and he had no problem grabbing 11 rebounds in his Summer League debut, levitating to the ball. He jumps effortlessly, and he will be a lob-merchant from the dunker position on offense. Plus, he has range, and he shot 35.1% from three in his college career, which should help to stretch opposing defenses.
But it's the defensive edge from his length as a rim protector and the fact that he can cover space quickly and recover on the help-side that will get Brazile minutes and the chance to make an impact as a rookie. Brazile averaged 1.6 blocks per game in his senior year at Arkansas, and he secured 1.5 steals per game. Injecting that level of defensive prowess into a team that lacked it last year is certainly a step in the right direction.
The Nuggets could get a rookie-scale bargain
Brazile will be on the bargain-bin rookie scale contract as the Nuggets face a number of years ahead where they project to be well past the NBA's luxury tax penalty threshold. But that could be great for the Nuggets if Brazile pans out. He doesn't need to be a superhero. He just needs to catch some lobs to energize the crowd and get some help-side blocks that turn into transition points the other way.
If Brazile ends up as a meaningful member of the rotation, he'll be a huge value for the Nuggets.
